FT Nanny Needed for Two Children in Lake Forest, to begin immediately - JC 1090

  • Two children, a preschooler and a toddler. Preschooler has speech therapy. Both children have activities.
  • $16-$20/hour, plus benefits.
  • Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m.-5:15. One long day per week, typically Thursdays. 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m, 3 to 4 times a month. Some evening and/or weekend hours are available.  47.5 hours a week
  • Nanny should drive and have a safe driving record. Nanny should have a safe, serviceable vehicle with proof of insurance and room for two car seats. Parking is available. 
  • One parent works from home, and the other parent is home occasionally. Nanny should be comfortable with this arrangement.
  • Family has a tiny, senior dog who does not shed. Nanny should like dogs and not have allergies. Nanny will be expected to care for the dog, e.g. keeping food and water bowls full, and taking the dog on walks with the children.
  • The ideal candidate is reliable; punctual; patient; energetic. Nanny should be active and able to keep up with a busy family. Should have significant verifiable experience and looking for a long-term position with a loving family. Experience with families should be two years or more,i.e. not someone who has changed jobs rapidly. Proactive, with an eye for detail. Creative and eager to add to the family's lives. Someone who values education, e.g. some college. Excellent spoken and written English, and the ability to read English easily.  Should be able to help children with language development, as well as learning to read.
  • Responsibilities include all child care: feeding; assisting children with hygiene and dressing themselves; potty training the younger child when developmentally appropriate; driving children to and from school and activities; overseeing activities and play dates; planning and executing outings in the area; providing fun, yet developmentally appropriate activities, both indoors and outside. Helping to teach language acquisition and pre reading/reading skills. Be a role model and encourage good manners. Managing appropriate discipline, in accordance with the family's philosophy. Doing arts and crafts; reading books and encouraging independent reading as appropriate. Assisting with school projects and homework. Organizing sports and activities to develop motor skills. 
  • Additional responsibilities include washing dishes; loading and unloading the dishwasher. Wiping down kitchen surfaces. Sweeping or vacuuming if needed. Family laundry and bedding. Tidying up after children's activities, as well as keeping children's toys and belongings, both in their rooms, in the play room and the family room. Keeping children's rooms and bathroom tidy and picked up. 
  • Errands, e.g. taking care of dry cleaning that is delivered; preparing family dinners once or twice a week; grocery shopping; restocking household supplies and remembering to replenish. Nanny should be proactive and strive to help the family.
